Review: Showstopper! The Improvised Musical at the Other Palace, London

I was lucky enough to get to see Showstopper! The Improvised Musical at the Other Palace on 7th March. The premise of the show is that every show is based off of audience suggestions, so no two shows are the same.

I was incredibly impressed with the cast. Improv is a difficult skill to master, and the way they came up with full songs on the spot was so impressive. Everyone was incredibly funny, and they managed to keep the running gags going as well. For example, in ‘The Ghost of Ally Pally’ (the musical that I helped create) there was a running joke about no one knowing the Prime Minister’s name that was eventually revealed in the finale.

The musicians were fantastic. I don’t know how they were able to play the music as improvised as they were not given a lot of time to work out what they would play. The music was so good and fit so well, I was incredibly impressed.

Incredibly funny, Showstopper is a must see for anyone who has ever wanted to help create a musical. 5/5 stars.
